Azden SGM-1X or Rode Ntg2

I own an NTG-2, and it's nice for the money. if I could do it all over again I would have purchased the Rode NTG-1. I've yet to use my NTG-2 with the battery, and the NTG-1 is smaller and a better fit on the XHA1. Just my 2 cents.

Beware of wind noise on the Rode. I had an NTG2 and ended up sending it back. I shot a wedding overlooking Fistral beach in Newquay. The mic was fitted with a Rycote Softie, but the wind noise was horrendous. I tested the mic, on camera later, blowing lightly around the XLR connection and the tiny filter switch whilst monitorig through headphones. The noise generated with even the lightest of blowing was realy bad. I know this is true of most mics, even my Sennheisers suffer from it, albeit, to a much lesser degree. I have taken to using a section of mic foam to cover the XLR connection and filter switches, this cures the problem.

Wouldn't the foam around the XLR connections and filter switches correct the problem with the NTG-2 as well?
