Happy New Year dooooooooods.

Right, I've been using AY-DVM63PQ tapes, but I've been told the AY-HDVM63MQ tapes are better as they are 'master' tapes.

Are both dry lube tapes and should I just stick with PQ tapes?

Cheers.

Sometimes, but not sure if its the tapes or not. But these tapes came with the camera when I bought it, so they had already been used.

are dry lube tapes better? how good is pq tapes? whats wrong with switching from one tape to the other?

All I have ever used in my DVX100b is the Panasonic Ay-DVM63PQ. No problems. But I believe it is best to just stick with one tape and don't change.

I gave always used the 63PQ's and once I used some AMQ's like 20 of them and when I went back the PQ's the heads were dirty. Stick with the PQ's.

They might be worth doing a comparison but the reason why my heads got dirty was because the AMQ's had a different lube on it I think, so try seeing if the HPQ's are dry too.

Hope this is okay to jump onto this post because it seems related?

Hi, I'm sorry this question might sound lame, but I wanted to be perfectly clear about tape usage. I have used the AYDVM63PQ in the past, and just purchased a bunch of AYDVM63MQ tapes. Can I use both in my camcorder and editing deck? Is the AMQ different from the MQ and is it ok to mix the PQ with the MQ? Again I don't have the AMQ, I have the MQ. And I hope to use the rest of my PQs. Also, with them being phased out, can I also begin to use the new AYDVM63PQUS with the older PQ and MQs? If it sounds like I'm clueless, it's because I am confused... and clueless.

My PQ tapes are the old blue and black colored ones. My MQ's are the beige ones with the blue and gold label.

Am I okay using PQs, MQs, PQUSs? Which ones can I or can't I mix in your experience?

Was the OP talking about only the AMQ situation? Why the heck would Panasonic screw you over on upping the quality of the line? At least between the PQ and MQ, with all the sticking and drop outs? I was originally told to go ahead and use PQ and to use MQ's for master tapes if I wanted it for storing, etc. So having a set of MQs would be good.

Any information- anecdotal and factual are much appreciated. Please pardon my ignorance. Thanks you!
