AWAKE Dvd cover, input please

That looks really pro! Nice job. The Awake on the front really pops now! The only thing I would modify is the description paragraph. There's a slope of the guy's forehead in the silhouette defined by the white light. I would have the left side of the paragraph follow that slope line. What program did you do the art layout in?

Hey, that's a good idea bradbro, I think I will try that out. I did the layout in photoshop, I'm not much of a graphic designer, but I love photoshop, (well I have a love hate relationship with adobe) but love photoshop. Good catch Bradbro.

I think it's good, you've done a great job! Really excellent comments from the forum too and it looks like have implemented some of those as well now...

The multiple eyes/faces cover thing looks a bit familiar to me  but then again we weren't too original either after I saw the (then) upcoming "Dead Ringer" dvd cover:

The only thing is since the face is the same person, with the opened and closed eye not being the same size and only seeing half of the nose it is a bit weird. No way to fix that and make them the same proportionally?

Definitely like the look though, keep it up!

Thanks for blowing my cover :)
I took your advice and evened out the faces, however, when it is in it's folded form I don't think to much of that would be evident, but good advice non the less. Yeah, i'm aware that my DVD cover isn't the most original, I actually wanted to go more with just a black cover with a very faint "AWAKE" just showing enough. I like the DVD covers that make you look at them more closely. But I was advised against that by several people in the Graphic design department here at school. But what do they know :)
Any ways, made more changes, and I hve to thank you guys again, things are looking good.

Now I just hope the film doesn't completely suck, as i publicised it enough in this forum. I've just been working on it so long that I have become numb to it. Frankly I'm glad that it's done. It has been a major learning experience and I am looking forward to starting some new projects.

Dig the new red eye. :D

I think it'd be kind of cool if you distorted the Awake text so that it looked like it was written on his forhead. If that makes sense.

I'd also throw the awake on the thin "back" of the dvd up a bit; so that it's completely in the black.

Very professional though. :)

Loving the red eye! (And it is great to be back on my computer - with a monitor that can display red!) And I really like the idea of the text following the outline.

That's a print!

scharky,

Can you break up the rear jacket paragraph into three separate beats with a ¾ space between each? This compartmentalizes it visually, making the apparent read "shorter" for browsing customers. The hairline wrap is sexy, btw. Much better than the centered stuff.

1st: Visual artist and...

2nd: John, played by John Pena...

3rd: Dreams, however, can...

One last thing: when you changed the justification, you capitalized Desperately in the middle of a sentence.

Great stuff! Oh, one question! What settings did you use in Photoshop insofaras d.p.i. and so on?

Looks great. i'd take out the words "Played By". People know that when a character is referenced, a name in () after it, is the actors name.

A la...John (John Pena)...

Also, take his name out of quotes, then it'll be perfect

Personally I liked the front title in the original position and flow, maybe a tad bit larger and definitly darker. It sort of looks like a tat up there and I think it looked kool (but definitly needed to be darker).

Wow, look what got dug up. :) The DVD will be ready in the next couple of weeks. I have decided to have a limited number available only for DVX users, and for other local people who have asked me for them, as I am still submitting the film to festivals and whatnot.
To tide you over, there is a new website up for the film, which can be found here.

http://www.stefweb.net/awake

there is a new trailer available for the film, as well as some info and behind the scenes shots.

I appreciate the critiques on the DVD cover, and will be implimenting many of the changes suggested.
