Awake (dream scene test).

Ok, I posted a grab a while back.  Well the scene has gone under some major overhauling in the meantime.  I think I am pretty much where I want to be as far as colors and continuity, but I still have some small things to make changes to.  I wish I could explain more about the movie, but I don't want to give away too much too soon.  Lets just say that this is one of the dream scenes from the movie.  Sorry, no sound yet, just wanted to get some feedback as to the look.

Background shot with DVX+anamorphic
Foreground shot with Canon D10 D-SLR

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

Looks great!

I can't fully determine what was shot with the Canon D10 though. Which foreground shot?

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

That's a clever use of stop action animation composited with live action background - nice job.

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

Thanks you guys. I guess "foreground" is a bit misleading. The main character (in red) was shot in front of a green screen thus making him the "forground".

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

I really have to give "John" more credit for this. The scene where he is standing up has to be one of the most physically demanding things to do. That shot probably took a good 5 minuts with him going as slowly as possible, shooting at about 1 frame per second. I just wish I could pay him more.

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

looks sweet. Good job. HOw'd you make the bus go in front of hte subject on the green screen? Just remove him from those frames?

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

Is there any way you could make a quicktime file. The windows file stops halfway through. But from what I saw it looks really cool.

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

Greeches, yes I just removed him when things covered him up.  I also used some maskes when cars passed infront of him, just covering part of him.  It was a lot of key framing work for such a short period of time.

I'm rendering a Quicktime file just for you.  Give me 5 min ;)

Experimentation is what it's all about my man.

I am currently waiting for fedex to deliver my new Cobra crane 2 plus, so I am just sitting around doing nothing right now. I wish they would get here already.

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

Thank's for the quicktime link! I guess the Mac users (I'm one) will appreciate! ;D

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

Very nice trailer! I like everything! Nice framing and nice use of the DOP too! Very good!

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

That's just awesome. Nice work. Have fun with the crane. And thanks for the .mov file. :)

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

Neither of the trailers play properly on my G5. But the test clip is totally awesome!

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

scharky! this is quite the undertaking. you have some serious talent. i am truly inspired by your efforts.

and let "john" know that some of us give him just as much credit as you get.
;)

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

wow scharky! Very nice. I do like the look of it. I can imagine the work behind this. How difficult was it to shoot him walking? good job man!

Re: Awake (dream scene test).

hey thanks for all the great comments.
BenB. Hmmm. Don't know what to tell you. I checked the links and they seem to work OK. the quicktime trailer was encoded with sorenson 3, maybe it's a codec issue? Do you have WMP installed on your G5?

Just a quick question
Does any of the test footage stand out extensively as green screen footage? ie,. one scene more than another.

The finsihed film won't be out for a while yet, but I'll be sure to let you know when it's ready.

Blue spider. None of the scenes were any harder than other ones, all of the camera positions, focal lengths and distances were recorded for the greenscreen work, but yes it was quite a bit of work as I realy don't have any keying softare that I thought looked good for this, so I ended up running a batch in photoshop that worked extremely well, but very slowly I might add.
