Avisynth Pulldown Removal - Central Thread

I've heard mention of Avisynth being used as a free method of removing GH13 60i pulldown. Since I don't want to pay for Cineform, and I'm sure man others don't, this would be great. However, although I'm fairly coputer-savvy, I know nothing of programming. I've searched the forums and scene bits and pieces of code here and there, but I thought I'd start this thread as a place to put specific instructions and recommendations for removing the pulldown, since the 24pN patch is not reliable. So, does anyone know how to do it?

QUOTE=Willyfan;2257738]I used this script:
Code:
for %%f IN (*.mts) DO (
echo directshowsource^("%%f"^).AssumeTFF^(^).SeparateFields^(^) > %%~nf.avs
echo Assert^(width^(^) == 1920, "Not a 1080p24 source"^) >> %%~nf.avs
echo x0 = selectevery^(10, 0,1^).Weave^(^) >> %%~nf.avs
echo x1 = selectevery^(10, 2,3^).Weave^(^) >> %%~nf.avs
echo x2 = selectevery^(10, 5,6^).Weave^(^) >> %%~nf.avs
echo x3 = selectevery^(10, 8,9^).Weave^(^) >> %%~nf.avs

echo Interleave^(x0,x1,x2,x3^) >> %%~nf.avs
)

for %%f IN (*.avs) DO (
echo VirtualDub.Open^("%%f"^); >> %%~nf.jobs
echo VirtualDub.video.SetCompression^(0x3130376d,0,10000,0^); >> %%~nf.jobs
echo VirtualDub.video.SetCompData^(52,"aAmOAQC6jQEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA=="^); >> %%~nf.jobs
echo VirtualDub.SaveAVI^("%%~nf.avi"^); >> %%~nf.jobs
echo VirtualDub.audio.SetSource^(1^);
echo VirtualDub.Close^(^); >> %%~nf.jobs
)

for %%f IN (*.jobs) DO (
"C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\vdub.exe" /min /x /s %%~ff
)

for %%f IN (*.jobs) DO (
del /Q %%f
)

for %%f IN (*.avs) DO (
del /Q %%f
)

Set compression and setcompdata are for MATROX codec, if you want others codec you must change this line.
A.e., if you want a uncompressed AVI, you can use the lagarith codec http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html
Change the lines with:
Code:
echo VirtualDub.video.SetCompression^("Lags",0,10000,0^); >> %%~nf.jobs
echo VirtualDub.video.SetOutputFormat^(11^); >> %%~nf.jobs

Obviusly, you need avisynth and virtualdub installed, and the codec you want. Pay attention to the line

Code:
"C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\vdub.exe" /min /x /s %%~ff

you must have the exact location of virtualdub installation.[/QUOTE]

The above is the only previous Avisynth information I've been given. How does one accomplish this?

There is a topic here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...ding-workflow-via-AviSynth&highlight=avisynth

Anyway, I used the code above for some test, and I'm sure the this work. i used matrox codec because are free, quick, good quality and a file size acceptable.
The lagarith code is very good and lossless, but it is more "heavy". Depends on what you want to do...

The setup for avisynth and virtualdub is very easy, and it is descripted in the topic linked above.
