So, I've read all the tutorials and watched the Avid NLE tutorial on Bootcamp.

Everything is working great!

There's just one small glitch that's a little disconcerting.

When I bring up the media tool for the first time, after copying all the new mxf files into it's designated folder; I get an error message, and then all my footage shows up along with alot of black clips.

Don't ask me what the error message was (I was a little to hasty in clicking the "okay" button) I couldn't get it to show up again either. The black clips don't appear if I load the media tool a second time.

Now, this isn't a huge deal being that all the files are there. I had 46 clips on my P2 card, and I have 46 files being displayed in the media tool.

I'm just curious as to what these ominous, black clips are.

Any guesses?

Also, I can't seem to delete the mxf files from neither the bin nor the Media tool.

It says, "File '004B9.MXF' is locked."

These files are quite large. They must leave my system at some point.

Make sure you navigate to the MXF folder and set the permissions of the folder so that YOU are the owner.

Then you can do anything you want with them.

okay, how do I do that exactly? Do I just deselect the read only switch in the folder properties?
