AVI codec for vegas and d90

Right i got a new nikon d90 today , shot some video and tryed to load it in to sony vegas 7 and only the audio channel is showing up.

can some one link me to a free codec or tell me what codec i need to be looking for and how to download and install it.

Thanks a lot Jacob

I think you need 8.1 or 8.0c. That's what I've heard at least. I have the same problem on some of my clips.

It's the version of Vegas. Ver 7 is pretty old at this point. Especially if you are trying to support cutting edge cameras. Version 7 doesn't even support Sony's own EX1/EX3.

Time to upgrade.

Can't get D90 video to work in Vegas 8.0c

Can't get D90 video to work in Vegas 8.0c

Version 8.0c?

I have Sony Movie Studio 8.0c (Build 142) and still can't get my D90 video to show in the preview pane. Audio works just fine. The Sony knowledge base has no info.

I know that I can try to find other software to convert the video first but I thought 8.0c was supposed to be able to handle the Nikon D90 files.

Anyone else using 8.0c successfully? Is there a setting I am failing to do?

Movie Studio? I though we were talking about Vegas Pro? I know zero about the consumer Vegas apps. Ask on the Vegas forums. Maybe they know.

mjpeg is the oldest nle format ever used, supported by anything and everything. no upgrades should be necessary. you do need a working codec though, i use picvideo.

?? my CS4 did not support mjpeg, I downloaded mjpeg codec and now it is working! (using PC)

the question marks suggest that you find this strange? software doesn't support codecs, they support containers (avi), codecs are installed separately. in most cases the nle or fx package doesn't even know what format the video is, it's just fed an rgb or yuv stream from the codec.
