Redrock Micro35 adapter and the dvx100

Is anyone working with the Redrock micro35 adapter along with the dvx100 or 100b?
I am wondering if anyone has figured out a way to rig the view finder on a dvx100 and 100b to flip the image upside down. I just got my adapter on monday, and I am having some issues with proper alignment of the dvx100 with the adapter itself. Looking for some sound advice.

Thanks,

There's a lot of info about alignment on the Redrock forums. As far as the flipping goes, I either use a cheap 7" LCD I got off eBay or turn the LCD over just enough so it doesn't flip the image and look at my framing from the front of the camera. It takes some getting used to, trust me.

Thanks Jason. Is there a particular brand and model of monitor that will flip the image at the press of a button, or that will allow me to mount the monitor upsidedown?

The magnet trick works on the original DVX100 and the DVX100a, but not the b. It's a bit irritating to use though, as the magnet can easily fall off if the camera is bumped.

As far as monitors go, I have mine mounted upside-down. I just looked for one that had a decent resolution (like 640x480 or 800x600), which was harder than you'd think. Most LCDs on eBay have something dumb like 480 x 234.

If you're having alignment problems, hardmount that sucker. I did it just recently and I can tell already the stuff I'm getting is much better than before.

Get a 72-55mm step down ring and then I think it's called a macro 55mm coupler. It's basically like 55mm threads on both sides. You then use that to connect it to the skylight filter on the adapter and it's aligned as it'll ever be.

I ended up just getting the varizoom 7 inch monitor. Not a big fan, but it gets the job done as it has a horizontal and vertical flip built inside.

Thanks Jason & Ryan,

Instead of using my dvx100 with my adapter, I decided to use my new dvx100b. The 100 required me to use a 1" ring spacer that I didn't have at the time. That along with some other minor issue kept me from properly aligning the camera. For some reason the 100b fix with no problem. The install went just like clock work. Jason, I did purchase a monitor that for the price works out pretty good. It's 16:9 screen mirror and flipping functions built in. I paid $100.00 at best buy. The brand is Curtis, and the model is RT700. The color adjustment function is not so good but it got me with in the ball park.

Ryan- I am thinking real hard about hard mounting. Now that I have a second camera I can keep my 100b as a permanent micro35 assembly.

Hello,

Have any of you guys used a PANASONIC PROLINE AG-DVC30P as a standby camera? The listing says that it uses film-like gamma technology. Does this camera do 24p, and will it match up with footage taken on a dvx100, 100b?

I am looking for a 3rd camera that wo't hurt my pockets and price-wise this camera is looking good.

Thanks,
