AVCHD neo scene transcoding problem

Sometimes when transcoding, I get the error message "Got EC-ERRORABORT notification 0x80040228". The clip won't play afterwards and the .mts files won't transcode at all after that. Can anyone provide insight as to what this means?

It's not NeoScene over log and transfer. It's using Neoscene versus pro res or AIC -- the two options for transcoding using L/T

Neoscene does an arguably better job as a wavelet codec over pro res, and results in slightly smaller file sizes.

What you loose however is access to FCP's RT filter architecture. You can edit, but add a filter or FX or titling, and you have render.

Neoscene will also do pulldown and deinterlacing.

However, it's an editing codec, not a delivery codec.

Oh...Thanks David. But just to clarify did you mean you can edit but you CAN'T grade or VFX or titles?

So FC works with NeoScene perfectly I take it. Unless the file size difference were phenomenally big these guys will take the titles grading and VFX over the slightly better quality.

Am I understanding you correctly David?

Joey, out of curiosity, did you get an answer on this? I just got the same error message. I have transcoded numerous clips before this happened, and it only did it when I tried to batch transcode several .m2t and .mts clips at once.

I'll email them if I encounter it again, but please post if you find out what caused it.

Yes you can grade, do titles, and FX.

But they have to be rendered.

So you can't preview them at all? If so that would sound like it would really make doing all of those things quite impossible. Am I understanding you correctly now?

The support guy didn't know what was causing the problem, and said it did the same thing to his computer. Then he makes me do a clean install. I did that and it still doesn't work. That was 2 days ago and nothing yet.

I guess it couldn't be too bad if the renders take mere seconds... is it easy to make it render a particular clip? I haven't touched PC in a log time.
