AVCHD INTRA 176mbit GOP1 v.3 Q DRIFTWOOD test w/ the new Olympus 45mm

Do you know how the 45mm 1.8 compares to the 20mm 1.7 in image quality (sharpness, contrast, etc.)?

(I'm not doing technical or scientific review/test or pixel peeping) But I really like the 45 better in terms of image quality, very solid and tiny (I mean it) perfect contrast and amazingly fast auto focus if you ever needed to chase your children with. 20mm auto focus is very slow. As a better of fact I sold my Pany 20mm to get the 45mm because I own a few of the FD 24mm's. Do keep in mind that longer focal length will give a sharper flatter look because of better OOF on the Oly. 20mm is a more of a walk around lens. Sometimes I like having a couple of native m43 lens for auto focus need, like example filmming children playing or where I cannot afford to miss a photo/video opportunity. the 45mm is definitely a keeper and sharper than the 20mm. I hope this helps.

Thanks. Would you say the Lumix has a higher contrast than the Olympus? I prefer lenses with greater latitude (like old vintage lenses).

it depends. Panasonic tends to process and bump all those things in camera versus the oly. I use many of Canon lenses because of great contrast (my opinion :). With latitude, if I'm understanding your question correctly that's more of a sensor (film) ability to get good result even under/overexpose? Correct me if I'm wrong. Have you played around with the Rokkor lenses? I love them too. the native 14-45mm Pana lens is a great and surprisingly sharp one too just in case you want auto focus.

At the end you say to avoid FCP, why?

Also, do you use your Canon lenses on the GH2? If so which ones and what adapter do you use?

Prores or not prores. Ap just drag n drop. My edit suite is very fast though. I suggest canon fd 50 1.8 to start out with. I also love the rokkor lenses since they r very inexpensive n sharp. Ask for fd or mc md adapter. Right now the Olympus 45mm is all I need.
