Avchd Capturing Format

Couldn't find a SD9 section and am new here. Maybe you guys can help. I have just received a Panasonic SD9. Shot some footage in 1920x1080 24p to test. When I try to import into Imovie and clips have a red circle with a slash with 24p in it. Can I not capture into Imovie in 24p? If not, what are my options? Log and capture in FCP? Tried but it doesnt see my card reader which is showing on my desktop.

Any help would be geatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
 
Im not a mac person but I believe its "log and transfer" you need to use not "capture". And also I think you need the latest version of Imovie.

Yeah, thats what I meant. I can go up to folder which holds my clips but they are greyed out. I have been digging for hours. Ridiculous that you cant just import into imovie and then render out a .mov file to work with in FCP but at this point, I would like to just SEE my footage.... other than on my camera's preview screen.:badputer:

I have Perian installed.
 
What's your system?... what version of iMovie do you have? what version of FCP do you have?

we need a little more info to tell you!
 
Im sorry. Im using FCP 6 and imovie 09. Bought Voltaic which is doing the conversion to .mov which Im able to work with in FCP. Just seems like you would be able to import footage with no problems into $1300 software like FCP. If anyone has a better way Im open to suggestions. Maybe a way to rename files?
