Avatar - James Cameron Returns! (Spoilers in thread, obviously!)

hm crazy... just was curious. I honestly LOVE the theatrical version, and usually don't like "extended" stuff unless you're talking about a BSG TV episode.

Brandon: November 16th apparently.

Word is that BD set will include all the Making of and other special features that weren't included in the "Movie only BD" that was release in April.

And apparently one of the features is the ability to watch the various different cuts of the movie - Original, SE, SE + unfinished (live-on-set renders) extended, etc .. I think there was even mention of story board only scenes at some point.

Something about a 4 BD set or some similarly ridiculous amount of data... :)

In December Panasonic is bundling a 3D version with their 3D sets and blu ray players, exclusively on Panasonic for a limited time.

There's talk of a November Blu-ray/DVD release that will include *more* than the +/- nine minutes' worth of new content included in the 'Special Edition.'

Draw your own conclusions.

Supposedly it is gonna have a big opening sequence on Earth. Besides getting proper BTS features, I'm actually really interested in seeing the eco-nightmare version of the future Earth. Although, from a narrative standpoint, the theatrical cut might have gotten it right by not showing Earth, and leaving the audience to fill in the blanks for themselves?

Yeesh. I sure hope not. I usually spend my time dodging the BTS people.

If I wanted to be on-screen I would have become an actor.

Although - unless they re-shot the opening for whatever reason - the third version will now open on my sleazy-dive bar set. That's kind of cool.

First Bluray I've ever heard of having a "Family Friendly Audio Track"

Smart though...

I'm interested to see what that means?

I assume it's obviously stuff like Grace's "Oh Sh*t!" .. but I really didn't think there was that much bad language in there.
I wonder if they'll censor moron? ... and Skxawng?

No idea... I just think it's smart. Regarding "content" in film, I think films have gotten much "cleaner" in recent years... pandering to the reach of all audiences. For instance, my wife and I were watching Die Hard the other night, and I told her if that film were made today, all of the language would be written out and it would be PG-13, with less bloodiness. It's interesting...

I never saw Die Hard 4, which was just made recently ... how was it in comparison?

Also, (to keep somewhat on topic of DVD releases) Die Hard 1 has the best extra features I've ever seen on a DVD. It's like a mini film-school right there with the Pan&Scan, Audio and Editing interactive demos.

It was an immature imitation.
