Automatic divide of mpg2 files

Is there any way to make the FS100 stop automatically dividing mpg2 files when they reach 2 GB? (standard definition)

That is so annoying--especially because apparently a bit of audio is cut out each time it does this.

It should go up to 4gb. The reason this happens is because the SD cards are formated FAT32 which doesn't support a file size larger than 4gb.

All I am doing is dragging files into Movie Studio and placing them right next to each other (snapped). And less than 1 second of audio is missing at each point the two files touch each other. Try it for yourself and see. These are 2 hour long MPG2 videos that get automatically divided into two files within the camera at approximately 2 GB each.

Ok, what I have been doing is just taking the SD card, and dragging video files from the card directly onto my computer, and then importing them into video editor, butting the split clips next to each other. But according to this thread, it seems that I have to use the Sony Content Management Utility??!! That means, I can't just drag files from the card to computer? That's quite annoying if true. Can anyone verify this?

I've heard guys open the file folder on the card and import directly into premiere pro but I've always used the content management utility and never had any issues. I have no idea about doing it in movie studio other than importing with the CMU.

Which NLE are you using? I know i had this issue, before i found out it's best in Premiere Pro to not just "import" from the File Menu.

You want to bring the entire Private folder to your computer, because it contains bits and things that will connect your long split takes back in to one take. Then use the Media Browser to import the clip. I imagine there's a similar way of importing on any NLE. But that bit was what i learned and it all finally made sense. Keep the whole Private folder, and don't just drage the .mts files over because they don't contain all the data alone.
