C200: Autofocus Speed

Can anyone with a C100 w/ DPAF, C200 or C300 Mark ii comment on whether it's possible to do slow rack focus between two subjects? I was just watching The Lens Depot's first impressions of the C200 on YouTube. In the video from 3:45 - 4:10, the fellow demonstrating mentions that even with AF Speed set to slowest it is still really fast to rack between two objects. I've seen footage of the 5D Mark IV's DPAF where the rack focus was way slower and smoother - as if there was a 1st AC slowly pulling focus. Is DPAF AF different on the Canon Cinema cameras?

You'll probably have to wait for some more tests. This is Canon's first cinema camera in which you're able to control the DPAF via a separate touchscreen that's controlled by a cable.

The DSLRs have their screens sitting right behind the sensors and that hardware configuration is obviously different than the C200's. Not saying the C200's DPAF will be different, but just noting the difference. [You never know what's going on inside these cameras and how everything is working together.]

That transition in the YT video definitely doesn't look right, and I would expect/hope it will be fixed (or it's just a random bug in that particular camera).

With the C100, you can't control the rate of the AF motor. I think. I might be wrong. But I can be sure that the rate of the AF depends quite a bit on the lens. It is dependent on the design of the lens motor. The C300II has quite a few controls for how quickly the AF responds. It is also dependent on the lens motor design. Each lens is different. I've actually found the STM lenses to have a very natural rate of rack focus if you are trying to track action. If you are trying to get the slow "look at all my beautiful bokeh" rack focus, you will have to test the desired speed for each lens that you own. Frankly, I've found that the best method is to us the manual focus assist visual aid to rack focus manually and then maybe tap the one touch AF at the very end to make sure that the focus is nailed.
