So my DVX100 got here today, FIANALY. I Charged up the batteries, plopped a tape in and AGH! The DVX Blue Screen of Death!!! So I looked around the forums, did a search, but I cant find very much information, other then it needs to be serviced, and it appears I am going to be ripped off $130 I dont have just for it to be looked at by Panasonic. The closest certified service center is down in santa monica, and thats about 450 miles away from me to the south.

Is there anything that can be done by myself? I restarted the camera, took the battery out and put it back in, changed recording modes, everything i could think of. I contacted the guy I bought it from on ebay, also called him. Their was nothing saying anything about the camera doing this in the listing, so as you can imagine i am pretty pissed.

Thanks for any help,
Dory

Ok, so I just cleaned it, and now when I put a tape in it, it detects that their is a tape, yet when I press record, nothing happens. Before it would record about 1-4 seconds then give me blue warning screen with the auto off s reel lock, now it wont even do that. It wont switch to VCR mode either. I bet its setting i switched un-knowingly... I know its alot to ask but would someone tell me ALL of the factory default settings? I have been looking forward to having this camera for... years now and now that its finaly here I would realy like to use it :-(.

Its a DVX100 (not a or b).

I'd greatly appreciate any help:)!

Thanks,
Dory

Come on someone must know something more then I can find by searching?!

I have a shoot on wednesday and it will be hard to shoot it without a working camera.

WoW... no answers!? that sucks.

I don't know what to tell you, but it sounds like there is something seriously wrong with the camera. Someone else with more troubleshooting knowledge please respond to this.

I've personally never heard of the issue's you're describing, but bet your ass I'd be calling the ebay guy back.

I did, and surprisingly he was very happy to work with me. I also talked to Robbs Repair in washington, and they have a much better price then pannasonic. I am hoping that I can figure this out cause I have already experemented with the camera and acheived some REALY cool looks. Now I just want to show the :(!
