Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

change your settings to "from the beginning" . its probaly set on "last day"..
the settings are at the bottom of the forum page...

BUYDIG.com- I decided to roll the dice and see what I came up with and while buydig.com does offer good service, and I did not have to buy any additional accessories, the unit that they are selling is the Canadian camera. As far as I can tell everything is the same. The camera came with MB and Berry's Book. The only difference is that under the viewfinder the model number is listed as DVX-100AP. I'm not sure about the rebate, as to whether or not I'll qualify, I submitted the form, and am waiting to hear back - we'll see. I decided to give them a try as they have a good rating with their customers. But I think that I'll go through Rush for the next camera purchase (I need 3 cameras total) - that way I'll be assured the repate. Just letting you know what I've expierenced.

Well if it comes with the Software and Barry's Book it is a US unit. I know that Buy Dig has been purchasing through a US distribution, but they also do Canadian, so everyone needs to be be careful to make the Book and MB part of the delivered package requirment. If the rebate site took your application and di not deny it, only confirms what i have said here. If the serial number was bogus, it would have thrown it out.

Thanks for your feed back. The site did take it. So now I guess that I just wait for a check. Will I be getting a confirmation email?

Never mind - Panasonic ROCKS! I just checked the site and looked at the rebate status section and found it there. The check was issued 2 dyas after I had submitted the form. Now that is service. (which I must say is a lot better service then what I have recieved from the competition - i.e. Canon)

so willoughby is an authorized dealer but it sounds as though people aren't having a good experience - but buydig isn't an authorized dealer and someone is getting rebate? - i'm confused - please advise - who to buy from? also - how long is the rebate deal going for?

I would say that if people are not happy with their experience at one dealer, they should find another. Your qualifier for any purchase is whether it is a US unit, and that it comes with the Magic Bullet and Barry's book and that it will qualify for the Rebate. If they say yes to this then go ahead and purchase. Know that the MB and the Book/DVD is in the box. It is not somethign that you call Panasonic for later, so if it arries and they are not in the box, the likely hood is that it is gray market. I know that BuyDig also buys from an authorized distributor, but I also know that he has sold gray goods in the past. Make it a part of the negotiation in the sale that itwill be coming back to him if it is gray.

Hope that helps,.

I recently emailed Willboughby's about the DVX 100A and they said that the model that they offer has the MB software but does not include Barry Green's DVX book. Willoughby's also stated * "In addition we are offering an instant $300 rebate instead of a mail in rebate.* So your net payment is $2,975 at time of payment, you won't have to wait for any checks back in the mail." So is Willboughy's still an authorized dealer and are they ok to buy from?

While they are an authorized dealer, this description sounds shaky. The rebate is issued by Panasonic and we wouldn't repay the dealer for the rebate, that is one of the rules. So then it gets weirder as an authorized US Product would have the Barry Green Book, the Magic Bullet, qualify for the rebate, and have a US Warranty. So why doesn't his. I think this needs a little investigation. Something sounds very odd.

i had no problem w/ willoughby's when i purchased a dvx jan 2004....go get 'em jan! let us know the deal...

Boy. If we can't trust authorized dealers, who can we trust?

Is Beach Camera an authorized dealer? Can't find them looking up zipcodes but they're selling cameras with the book and software. At $2950 they're the cheapest I've seen so far. Even beats the deals at EVS.

Thanks for the response Jan and everyone concerning the DVX 100A offered at Willboughy's I may have to avoid buying from them.

I don't think Beach Camera is authorized.

I just ordered a DVX100a from Profeel Video (who isn't authorized either), after someone on this board said he got his a month ago with a USA manuf. warranty, DVX book, MB software and their full rebate from panasonic.

I couldn't get their zipcode from their website to plug it into the Panasonic dealer locator. They have their entire addressup there, but not the zipcode. If you can find it, or call them, here is the Panny dealer locator website link:

We are 100% authorized, and even though you have to pay a little more on the upfront to buy from us, you are guaranteed $300 back by mail, so the effective price paying using a credit card outside CA is $3137 (After rebate) and using cash/wire/check is $3067 (After rebate). This includes shipping and insurance.

Send me an email to rush@evsonline.com if you are interested.

**WARNING!** BUYER BEWARE!! A week ago I purchased 2 DVX's from Willoughby's and Panasonic confirmed yesterday that they were grey market out of Canada! Jus wanted to give you all a heads up and let you know that in my book Willoughby's is not "authorized" anymore.

I never understood the Canadian connection. I got mine in Canada - still it's covered by warranty. It may be Panasonic Canada, but I don't know if that makes any practical difference.

BTW - were your manuals English and French? Happy reading. Now you know why everything is twice as expensive up here....
