Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

You can ask the dealers to match prices, each dealer is free to set their own price so they certainly might choose to price-match.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Hi, I am new here, and big HELLO for everybody!

I have few questions:

I have DVX 100A and I would like to buy second camera,
what is better to do: buy 1/2 CCD camera(like Panasonic DVC 200 or DJ 410) or stay with DVX 100A? ::)

I am events videographer and mostly I am doing weddings but I like to expand my business to corporate video and documentary films.

I appreciate any comments and suggestions,

Regards, Rad_Forever

P.S.

What you think about this dealer in New Jersey?

and then he hung up ????????????
so I don't know if I should buy from them....
I went to sammys in venice and they were like no no no don't buy from them because they're gray market the cheapest we can do is $3,399 + tax=$3,600 which is a lil' bit too much
I know there's digital liquidators, royal camera, and all kinds of crooked "dealers" on the web so I don't know where to go
would you guys recomend some dealer that is not gonna skrew me....
somebody said something about a guy under the 10 freeway in downtown LA, where is he located, phone # ????

thanx guys.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

The first memo in this thread will tell you where to buy and where not to buy. EVS is one of the best, and they're $3399. B&H and ProMax are also excellent dealers.

You're not going to get it for much less than $3399. It just won't happen.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

are there any panasonic people in here

or dealers that try to stir perople away from each other?

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Jan Crittenden occasionally stops in. She's the USA product representative for Panasonic.

We've had a few posts that looked suspiciously like "troll posts", ones that hyped certain dealers who have a less than stellar reputation on consumer reporting sites like BizRate and ResellerRatings. However, for the most part, people seem really happy with a certain group of sellers, which include B&H, ProMax, EVS, Birns & Sawyer, and guys like that.

As Barry said, I do stop in on occasion. The only steering I try to do is to guide you to authorized dealers. That said, go to the list at the beginning of thiis thread and buy from someone that will sell you a camera that has a US warranty.

I actually had a customer yesterday that called me and wanted me to sell them the Magic Bullet software at a discount because they had purchased a gray market product. They saved $150. They wanted a $300 piece of software, and a US warranty. By the time we finished talking I think she realized that her $150 savings was not a savings at all. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Best regards,

Jan

Nothing in the world sells this camera better than holding and shooting some footage in 24p mode. If you wanted to stop by, I'd be more than happy to let you loose on it.

That is, whenever we're not trying to hawk these things under the bridges in Downtown LA.... with signs that say "Will 24p for Food, God Bless Panasonic".

Hi, newbie here. Just bought the 100A from buydig.com. Got an email saying to call, figuring it was going to be the hard sell. But they asked me to fax driver's license and CC to them for orders over $3000. Did so and got the camera 2 days ago.

Had a sticker on it saying the package had been opened to put the Magic Bullet software in, which was laying on the top. Everything was there, transaction was very smooth and seemingly legit (as long as they don't use my CC for anything else.:-) ) Haven't done any real shooting with the camera yet but so far it seems awesome.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

To respond to your question of gray market - my understanding is that gray market is bought from another territory - for example, bought from an authorized dealer in Japan. So, buydig or b&hphotovideo will import directly from Japan. The price is also lower but the gray market does not carry a US warranty. Some places, like b&h, that sell gray market will honor the warranty, and the difference is that you send the product directly back to b&h. if you bought a canon with US warranty, you can send it to any canon US service center.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Hey what's up ya'll
I wanna thank to all the people that took the time
to reply to my post about buydig.com
I had already seen the first post that lists the authorized US dealers. but their prices are almost MSRP.

there was a guy here that said he bought a dvx from buydig and had some major repair work done under warranty. Where are u located? u said the repair people just checked the recipt to verify the date? so I guess send you to an "authorized" repair place huh?

to the Panasonic lady how can I get a free DVX from Panasonic (I know it sounds ghetto) but I need one real bad please please please aaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwgggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!
at least at a discount price. I've been to canon's clinics/seminars and was ready to buy the xl1s because one of the guys said that it's easier to get some nice DOF with the XL1s than the DVX but like I said again afeter seeing some results on this site, I still am totally amazed
at the footage is it the CCD's or the Leica lens please please please, I actually went to Sammy's rental place and was able to get one in my hands and just contemplate it and baby it God knows I can't afford one at the time...........(sux)

thanx to everybody and keep on DVXin'

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Unauthorized gray-market dealer, same as all the rest. They'll make their money somehow, yes, and it won't be on $50 shipping, it'll be on a $600 wide-angle lens (which sells on ebay for $40), or on $19 DV tapes (which you can buy at Wal-Mart for $6) or on $159 Digital Optics batteries (when you could buy batteries on this site that'll last twice as long for $45).

Save yourself a world of time: if someone's advertising it for less than $3300, they simply are not legitimate. There's no way to "beat the system". The lowest price you'll find from a legitimate, honest, authorized dealer is $3359 from ProMax, or $3399 from EVS. That's the bottom line.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

pcRUSH.com return policy:

If no exchange or repair options are available, pcRUSH.com reserves the right to impose a 20% restocking fee. No returns can be accepted after 15 days.

THAT IS RIDICULOUS !!!

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

How about Beach Camera? I just bought a Canon still camera -- great price, full USA Manufacturers Warranty. They have the DVX for around $400 less than some of the others.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

yeah guys is beachcamera.com authorized??????

or for $100 more should I go with Willoughby's

and if so is Willoughby's really authorized?

thanx

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Beach is *not* an authorized dealer. Willoughby's is.

Beach makes it difficult to verify whether they're authorized or not, by hiding their zipcode. But once you find it, you can verify that no, they're not authorized... plus there's always my "litmus test" -- do they sell Digital Optics and Sakar accessories, like the scam shops? Why, yes they do! (although at much less obscene prices than places like Broadway). Their prices are more like Profeel and Buydig, which means they're probably a pretty good store, but they're not authorized to sell Panasonic DVX100A's.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

OK so I guess I'll have to get it from Willoughby's

wasn't that DVX100 DVD,book, anamorphic guide like $49.99?

and also where's that footage they shoot with the mini 35 on a DVX I saw it here sometime ago.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Willoughby's is authorized. However, I'd still recommend you give Rush at EVS a call, and see how good of a deal they can get for you.

The DVX DVD/Book package is $69.95, and it was briefly offered at a pre-order price of $59.95 through October 31.

As for mini35 footage, Jarred has a review of it on this site somewhere. I put my mini35 footage on the DVX DVD, and I believe Charles Papert pointed to a short film he'd shot on the mini35/DVX as well.
