Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Has anyone ordered from EVSonline or BHphoto? I would like to hear your experiences.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

I have ordered from B&H dozens of times, and EVS as well. Both are superb resellers, extremely trustworthy, great to do business with. Some people don't like the "New York" manners and brusque manner of the B&H salesmen, but I only order from them through the web and have never had a problem. I've returned a couple of things to them, no hassles, no questions asked.

Both get 5 stars.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

If you go to resellers.com, EVS, ProMax & Willoughbys have a perfect 10. B&H has "only" 8.31, which is a mystery to me. B&H have virtually every product line you could want, which is not true of the others. Like Barry, I only order online, mostly so I can write everything down exactly as I want it.

If you're ever sightseeing in NYC, put the B&H showroom on your "must-see" list. Seeing all that gear in one place evokes lust quicker that a $500 whore, but I'm old. ;D

I told him about the Magic Bullet and he said the guy at the store never said anything about it.   So if anyone knows thanks.

Abel is an excellent source of supply. Knowledgable, capable, and well informed. Have been in the film business longer than they have been in the video business. They are one of our better resellers.

Best regards,

Jan

Sorry, not to confuse: I was referring to the smaller dvx size p2 hd flash card prototype ;D[/quote]

There was a balsa wood mock up of a smaller HD handy cam but no prototype. The AJ-SPX800 was in full working order at NAB, in fact as I recall there were 4 of them in working order in our booth and several others out in other booths on the floor.

As far as how the little guy will come to be real, it is still under much debate.

Hope that helps,

Jan

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

ok, thanks for the advice. I planned on using buydig.com, but I came across this thread, and boy, did I change my mind QUICK. I really want to get a hold of magic bullet editor. So I will definetly now go with an authorized dealer and pay a little extra. That 3,199 price is very tempting though. I will go with BHphoto, they seem nice. I talked to one of the representatives online thru live service chat, he answer my questions promptly. Buydig on the other hand, sent me a quick e-mail telling me to call their toll-free number.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Whoa, Hiro. I didn't read anything here that ought to dissuade you from using BuyDig. In fact, I seem to remember Jan Crittenden saying that they were an authorized dealer and believe it or not, their reseller rating is exactly the same as B&H. With a price difference of $328 shipped, well......

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Buydig is NOT an authorized reseller. What Jan said (I believe) is that apparently Buydig is acquiring authorized product from somewhere, so it's possible that your buydig camera would actually have a US warranty and the Magic Bullet Editors software... but it's no guarantee. Buydig cannot buy cameras from Panasonic USA, so if their current source of authorized cameras dries up, they may import gray-market cameras or something else...

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

The list itself is enough to dissuade me. Jan didn't mention them as an authorized seller.

he/she mentioned.

" Yes it is. And it is apparent that sometimes Buydig will purchase the camera from an authorized dealer and resell it, as noted above with the Magic Bullet software. And since it did come with the Magic Bullet, then it is a US unit. But sometimes they don't. "

I wouldn't want to gamble with my $3500 for a non-us unit and not get the magic bullet editor. I'm not dissing buydig.com, I would rather go with them because of the price! I dont mind buying extras. I don't see why they are not authorized because of their good reputation. Thats the only thing that sucks. I just don't want to take that chance.

I hope I don't come off as too cautious, I'm sure there is someone like me reading this. I saved and slave for the dough. I don't this investment to be a disaster! Right now I'm sucking in every bit of information before I make my decision.

Has anyone ordered from buydig.com, and recieved the magic bullet editor with their cam?

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

You could call them and ask them if the Magic Bullet is included. Then make your purchase based on the fact that it is in the box when you get it. Then if it is not in the box you get to return it. Make sure your credit card company will back you up on this.

Best regards,

Jan

Sorry I would not have said that they wer authorized. They are not, but they could buy from US dealers to resell. And the one invoice I have includes enough stuff to total over the price from an authorized vendor.

Hope that clarifies,

Jan

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

This is the part people don't seem to get... if you're buying a US-warranty unit, it HAS to cost MORE to buy it from a non-authorized dealer! Even if they're advertising a lower price, they CANNOT sell it to you for that price... they'll have to add in accessories and a warranty and higher shipping costs.

Non-authorized dealers CANNOT buy cameras from Panasonic. They have to import them from some other country (which means you will NOT have a US warranty) or they have to buy them under-the-table from an authorized dealer, which means that their cost is HIGHER than it is for authorized dealers, which means that to turn a profit their price will always end up being HIGHER than it would have been if you'd just bought it from an authorized dealer in the first place.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Royal Camera list it for $1979 but see what happens when you call!!

718-336-4632
info@royalcamera.com
800-301-1778
Fax 718-336-4695
info@royalcamera.com

If you want a good laugh just call them and then ask the details of thier warranty. I asked and he instantly called me a "jerk" and told me. "never call again" and hung up. Hmmmmmm, that was a first for me.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

I've just received my package from BHphoto. They will ship on the same day if your order is in by 3:30 PM eastern, monday thru thursday. I ordered on thursday and recieved it today. great service. Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

What about that guy under the I-10 bridge in downtown LA... he's got a bunch of DVX's REALLY cheap. Would that be covered?

Tommy Mack

PS: Maybe it was Rush from EVS again... that guy is everywhere.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Hi guys
I live the chicago area and don't want to buy the dvx on a website and would prefer to walk in a store with $ and see what kind of deal can be made. (does this sound reasonable)
Do any of you know of an authorized dealer in the midwest.
thanks

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Where could you find a list of authorized ONLINE dealers? If I don't know the zip code, then I can't search for them on the Panasonic site.

Re: Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

Panasonic makes it not very easy to find that list. They would prefer that people buying $3500 pro cameras buy it from local brick & mortar dealers, and the dealers themselves would rather have locals buying from them rather than price-shopping on the internet.

So Panasonic is reluctant to issue a list of internet dealers, because doing so could be perceived (by the brick & mortar dealers) as steering customers away from them.

We, however, are not Panasonic, and we can print whatever list we like. Accordingly, go back to the very first post in this thread and you'll find the beginnings of a list of internet authorized dealers.

(p.s. most reputable authorized web sellers will list their zipcode in the "contact us" portion of their website).
