Audio Syncing software...

It works great. The demo lets you sync video & audio in FCP without any restrictions - I ended up buying it because there's no way I can do without the functionality now! I do a lot of dual system sound so it's a lifesaver, especially when you have footage that wasn't properly slated or camera/audio that cuts while the other keeps going and picks back up again later. I was astonished several times by its ability to get perfect sync with lousy on-camera audio (way too quiet, etc). The new beta even has an option to pre-process the sound and boost levels as needed to match tracks and enable the software to achieve sync.

At least in Vegas, this is not really needed. I shot a solo 48 Hour film with the Zoom 4hn and syncing was easy as long as you leave camera mike on. I did not slate or anything. Took 10 minutes to sync 27 takes.

stephenvv, is it automated in Vegas or were you just comparing the waveforms visually?

I agree it's not that hard to line up audio with a decent camera audio reference but full automation is pretty great.

just visual waveforms and it was amazing fast and easy and far more accurate than frame/slate syncing. No one, I and mean none including location audio wonks, could tell it was double system as Vegas lets you sync to the sample in milliseconds. There is a automated script floating out there for Vegas but I've not used it.

I'm testing this for an interview setup with the H4n and trying to sync in Premiere... Little trouble though!

I can't get the audio track to slide less than a frame to line up. Anyone know how to disable the 'frame lock' or how to get it just right in Premiere??

I'll answer my own question!! In the timeline panel upper right is the wee bitty triangle. Set the timeline to Audio Units and vola! you can move milliseconds. yay

Wave form works for me, very fast and accurate if you leave the camera mic on. For balcony shots you can introduce delay compensation which is just a few milliseconds.
