Audio Suggestion for Interviews

Hey all, what would you suggest using for recording audio when shooting with a 7D? Since Magic Lantern hasn't come out with a firmware yet, I'm kind of curious what you all would suggest. I'd love to wait for the Magic Lantern firmware but I'm needing to shoot with audio in one month. I own a wireless lav system, boom mic and an XLR input box (not sure what it's called but it allows me to transfer the audio into the camera).

What would you suggest if recording separate audio and then bringing it together in post? I'm shooting a lot of interviews.

Thanks in advance.

The best solution is to record to an extrenal sound system and then use Pural Eyes *ww.singularsoftware.com) to sych the dual audio tracks to a scratch track recorded with the internal mic. this will cost more and it does not seem that you want/need to spend what is needed

Now to get more realistic about using what you have. Need to know what input device you have. The key is the preamp noise. The camera will have a very noisy audio system so you will need the quietest possible track with a high signal to noise ratio. The problem with your system is that the auto gain on the audio will constantly kick in and boost noise between words or in any pause. Horrible. Juicedlink sells the $140 DN101 bolton module for its preamps that sends a loud tone to one track to defeat the autogain. However you are left with only on usable track to record on. Not great but it could work in your system.

I do not recommend the old Beachtek autogain solution as it introduces a tone that can be heard in harmonics introduced in post. They are working on a new solution and I eagerly await it.

My input device is a Sennheiser wireless lavaliere EW 100 G2. My limit for purchasing a portable digital audio recorder is at $200. $300 for the H4n is just too much for me right now. The Juicedlink DN 101 is out of stock right now. Would you suggest any others?

Thanks for the help.
