Audio setup for ad spots ..?

For my T2i, I'd like an audio setup where I'll be able to produce simple ad spots/promo video for the web but also perhaps, TV .... while on a budget :)

So anyway, I did a bit of research and came up with 2 solutions, let me know what you think...

1- Magic Lantern, Juicedlink cx231, rode ntg-2

2- Zoom h4n, rode ntg-2

Now, based on this guy's test ( http://vimeo.com/5370880 ), setup 1 works as good as setup 2 while saving time with the sync process in post...

Any reason why the Zoom might be a better option?

Also, between Juicedlink cx211 and cx231... is the phantom power really necessary (audio wise)? Or is it just a good thing to have if I decide to get a different mic, perhaps a cardioid microphone or a lavalier mic?

Finally what other gear to I need...? I read about xlr cables..

At B&H there are selling 2 different rode NGT-2 kits... with different cables.. which one would I need with the 2 setup I listed above?

I'm planning to probably get this boompole for $175

And finally, for monitoring the audio, what type of headphone would I need ? And I plug it in the camera?

Thanks

You should go over to the audio section and read the stickies. These setups you list are not really ideal, but a decent start.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I have heard things about problems with the zoom and the ntg-2....I could be wrong but I would look into it just in case

yeh thats what htey say about the rode and zoom setup. I've looked into this issue and i dont wannt go overboard with the sound thing cuz thats why there are sound guys. But for me and small projects that i do alone of cant get a sound person i'd personally get the Marantz PMD 661 with super mod http://www.oade.com/mm5/merchant.mv...duct_Code=PMD661SM-GND&Category_Code=PMD661SM.

Better pre amps than zoom or tascam.

headphones.

I use a Zoom H4n and a lot of times I plug in a Rode NTG-2. It's never given me a problem before, and being able to have untethered sound gathering is a huge advantage for speed of setup and adaptability. For headphones get a pair Sony 7506's. That or the Marantz depends on how much you want to spend; for me, by the time the budget requires more I just find a sound recordist.

ok did some research and indeed many are reporting problems with low volume when combining zoom h4n and a mic like the rode ntg-2, as well as a few other mics....

I'm leaning towards the juicedlink cx231 and rode ntg-2 now... or would those mics do a similar job? Audiotechnica AT875 or AT897? Less expensive and the AT875 seems better suited for when I'll mount the mic on the camera....

Will i need headphone amp with this?

And is this the cable I need for this setup? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...40040&is=REG&A=details&Q=#featureAUAT83141.5RAudio-Technica XLR Male to XLR Angled Female Balanced Cable - 1.5' ?
