audio set up

for interviews and on-the-go, I am planning on using an SD MM-1 along with my boom mic. So it will go: AT835b to MM-1 to XH-A1. Is there something I'm missing, or does this look like a good set up?

You need a good set of heaphones to verify what you're recording. A popular set is Sony 7506.

Why do you need the MM-1?
I thought the camera would provide preamp and phantom power.

my understanding is that the preamps aren't that great, and the preamps on the MM-1 are better.

I have run into issues with compatability of the two working together - mostly the input level of the A1 doesn't work well with output level of the MM - 1.

Also, the A1 only allows either both line or both mic, which means I would need another preamp to use both channels (my battery power on the AT mic isn't working)

so, if anyone has any suggestions on getting around these issues, please let me know. Is it possible to use an attenuator for the match up purposes?
