C100: Audio recording: HELP!

Hi.
I need some seriously URGENT help here... I have to shoot a short commercial with interview tomorrow morning. I have a shotgun that works great, but the director wants a lavalier too. The only lavalier I could put my hands on at this time of the day is a Rode Smartlav. I tried to test it, but nothing seems to work. I connected it to the MIC slot, tried different settings, to no avail.
Any suggestions?

Mic jack does not work when top handle is installed.
Dont know the smart lav but it may require plug in power. The c100 mic jack will not supply that.
You could use a 3.5mm to xlr adaptor.

That's scary... I start thinking that the Smartlav needs power that a smartphone can supply, but not the mic jack.
Not enough time for a 3.5mm to xlr adapter :(
 
For sure the mic jack does not supply power. Have you checked the lav specs to see if it needs 5v?
How about recording sound into your phone with the lav and syncing in post?
 
I just found out it gets power from the smartphone it's connected to... Too bad I didn't check this before.
The idea of connecting it to my phone is great, I didn't think about it! ;)
