Audio opinios

Have you checked out a Holophone mic.
it is a great solution that outputs a line level 3.5mm Dolby Pro Logic II audio file. this will plug directly into your stereo mic input. no need for a converter. and you get a 5.1 ambience.

I am going to purchase a Beachtek or one of those portal recorders. Which do you recommend?

i've tried the JuicedLink and the Beachtek, they're no good. Get a Zoom H4n or some other off camera recording device...

with all these recorders I can plug in xlr, or use an adapter. I currently have a senhiser MK/K6 shoutgun condensed mic.

I have a Zoom H4. I want to know if it is common to actually connect the Zoom to the 7D or record audio separately. I thought it was best to record separately and sync later due to the way the 7D handles gain, is that correct?

I'm planning on getting an Edirol R44 - it has 4 channel simultaneous recording, enough for two lavs and my Rode NT4 (stereo condenser)

Separately. Plus you get the added benefit of having the audio person run around un-tethered.

If you buy the Beacktek model for the 5D it WILL NOT mount to the 7D. I found that out the hard way today. It has two metal prods that have to be filed!
