Audio loss during p2 transfer?

I'm using an HVX200a and am transferring the files onto my computer through the usb2.0 connection. I then move the files into raylight and transfer the clips into .avi format. After I have done all of this, I notice that occasionally there are audio clips missing from my footage and there is merely video in these areas. I know it is not the slow motion clips only- there is real time footage that is for some reason reading as if it never had any audio- but when I play these clips back on my camera I hear the audio just fine.

Any suggestions?

Check in the camera to see if there is actual audio. Any clip not shot exactly at 24p, 30p, 60p or 60i will not have audio.

Also, how did you transfer the files? Did you keep all of the folders intact and in the same structure?

I'm shooting at varying frame rates (24pN and 60, usually). When I copy the files over and look at the .avi clips, I notice that sometimes even the 24pN files are totally missing audio- like there is none. Usually if I forget to turn the mic on or something it will still pop up an audio track - but with no noise. Now, in Vegas it doesn't even register an audio track- like there was never any potential for there to be audio...

To answer the second response: I copy and paste the entire contents folder and the little text file out to the side and drop them both into Raylight... Any suggestions?

Thanks

No- when I shoot 24pN at 24fps there is occasionally no audio... maybe there's a bug with a driver or something? I was just wondering if anyone else had had this sort of problem in the past.

Thanks.

But have you checked a clip that is silent in FCP in the camera itself to confirm it actually has audio?

Problem solved.

Problem solved.

Here is the solution: I wasn't using the Raylight Vegas plug in. I was manually converting the MXF files to AVI so I could edit in Vegas- what I didn't realize was that raylight automatically installed a plug in in Vegas so I could edit straight from the MXF files. Now there is audio when I open the files in Vegas.

Thanks for you help.
