Audio levels question

Is there an easy way to tell premier to export but adjust audio within reasonable levels? I do some adjustments myself from clip to clip, but still seems like I want to turn the tv up or down when viewing on DVD

Make sure that your "audio mixer" panel is on, it gives you very nice metering and volume control of each track and the final mix.

there is a normalise function under audio gain. maybe apply it to all the clips? not sure if theres a way to apply to many at once

as mentioned above, using the auido mixer panel is the way to go. be sure youve expanded the effects and sends controls within the mixer (click the small triangle to the the left of the mixer to expand or collapse the views). it will allow you to place realtime effects and sends to any of the auidio channels for submixing ect. before throughput to the master output. this way you can effect and control an entire track instead of adding effects to indiviudal clips within a track. if all your vocals are on one track its a waste of time to add the same effects to every clip. even if your just coying it and pasting it to the rest. you could just add it once to the whole track in the audio mixer, and change it once in one place for the whole track at will ...again affecting all clips on the track. using the sends will let you return a bunch of tracks to another track, where your simply adding some other efftcs or processing at will using all of the tools in the mixer again. this way you can add as many tracks as you want to a submix track where you add an echo or whatever you want to apply to all the submixed tracks at once, then just return your submix to the master, or to another submix if you want to do more stuff before returning it to the master. the mixer will also let you do straight to timline punch in recording, and realtime recording of level mixing and volume control so you can manually set volume levels in realtime and the software will automate your controls on playback. you can also puch in levels automation using the "touch" mode. once youve brought your levels up in any number of ways using any of the tools in the audio mixer, you can apply a limiter to the master track (for regulating the audio to broacast standards or whatever ) by applying the dynamics filter, and only turning on the limiter in the filter and setting its level to -.1 or whatever youd like. you can also go through each individual clip and use the edit in audition command to use its more powerful feature set to normalize and sweeten audio as you are editing. generally a macro (i forget what audition calls them but it think its scrpits) that youve setup within audition to perform a series of functions like noise removal, normalization, and any other genral effects to sweeten audio quickly on each clip without doing the same thing over and over.. you just import and run the script/macro and then close the file and its updated in PPRO. generally i edit almost all dialog track in audition for sweetening, and then also use effects and automation within the PPRO mixer on top of that to mix and adjust each track before sending to the master. audio generally takes just as much time as the video edit if your really trying to get a good mix with all field dialog, ADR, foley, loaction sound, sound fx, soundtrack, score, ect that you want.
