audio hiss

Ok maybe I am just going crazy...but recently I started noticing that the audio in HDV has a really annoying hiss behind it...and in SD with the same settings there is no hiss....is this just the compression or what.....please help..
 
Are you hearing this in your headphones while recording? Or during playback on your computer? Just wondering if something else is the culprit. I personally have found the A1 pretty quiet in HD mode. Very close to my good old DVX, which I found extremely quiet.
 
If the settings are the same, then indeed it's likely compression-related. Does ir vary at all with the audio content?
