GH2 Audio Gear for GH2 Shooting

I've owned a bunch of different low cost digital recorders over the past 8 years. My least favorite was the original Zoom H4. ( terrible preamps, terrible sound ) I know that the Zoom H4n is a big improvement, but I am still not crazy about the mics or the preamps. My favorite recorder for overall sound ( especially the built-in mics ) is the Sony PCM-D50, which I sold and will probably end up buying it again. Right now I'm mostly using an Olympus LS-11 which comes close to the sound of the Sony PCM-D50, but the mics are just not as good. Try listening to the Texas Media Systems mic test to see how much better the Sony PCM-D50 mics sound compared to the Zoom H4n...

I would say that a field mixer is the first thing any person with a dslr and wanting to get pro sound should purchase - I have my eye on the SD 302 but it's $$$$. After that you could just go with a cheapy recorder and get good audio. For what I like to do you have to adjust levels in seconds and fannying about with the tiny buttons on one of these Zoom like devices to get the correct mic levels set would drive me crazy! The button on my GH2 are bad enough - oh the joys of dslrs! Love to see your setup in action Dingo man. As lots of folks before me have said, our GH2 will be in some land fill in 10 years but our field mixer will be still rocking!!!
