Audio capturing on DXA-SLR

I just got a DXA-SLR from Beachtek, and tried to record some audio on my 7D. The left channel is recording some sort of weird digital audio noise. Has any one who has used this device run into this problem?

I haven't used the DXA-SLR but I believe that the weird digital audio noise on the left channel is intentional. It's how it defeats the AGC, so you only get one channel of usable audio.

That is what keep the AGC's noise level down to a reasonable setting. You simply eliminate that track when you edit. The downside is that it leaves you with mono but given that many narratives are shot with a mono boom mic I haven't found it to be an issue.
