GH4 audio bug discovered

You might want to look at the Tascam DR-40 instead of the Zoom H4n. In North America the DR-40 is about half the price of the H4n, it has a better noise-floor ( about 10 dB quieter ), and can accept LINE level signals which the H4n can't without a 20 dB audio pad.

Altough right now Im still a bit leaning more towards the Pannys own mic. In this video (on GH3 though) the DMW-MS2 sounds good to me.

Nick Driftwood is a pretty talented guy, so he's probably using the Panasonic mic in tight to get good audio. ( the biggest newbie mistake is always recording with the mic too far from your subject )

In this price range I would also look at the Rode Video Mic Pro and the Shure VP83 shotgun mic. ( I haven't used the Shure yet, but I've read very good things about it )

Okay, now I have found a store that sells Zoom H4n with the APH pack for almost the same price as the DMW-MS2. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/892636-REG/Zoom_zh4nap_Aph_4N_H4N_Accessory.html

I reckon that the hot shoe mount is compatible with the GH4? And with that 3.5 cable is it possible to get the audio in sync or do I have to still do it in post??
In here:

DMW-MS2 = 318-333 eur.
Zoom H4n+APH4n kit = 359 eur. (The same store also sells video mic pro and other mics.)

So yeah, my rational thinking tells me that with Zoom I don´t have to worry about the buzz and it will last longer, since MS2 is only compatible with GH3/4.

EDIT: Ahh, since the rode video mic pro is 3.5mm, how about taking Zoom H1+APH1 pack since Zoom H1 takes in 3.5mm jacks.
That would be Zoom H1 + APH1 (129eur) + Rode videomic pro (240eur) = 369 eur. Only 10 euros more expensive then Zoom H4n pack alone.

It sounds like you are recording the audio put out by the local PA system, which is not terrible, but nowhere as good as having a properly placed lav / hypercardioid / shotgun mic close to your subject.
Of course it doesn't sound as good as a lav. That was not my point.

That is because the music masks the quality. Also since its stereo it records wide and takes sound better outside, but inside you have sound bouncing from walls, etc.

Today I called Panasonic. Turns out the price here for DMW-MS2 is 302 euros instead of 318. Thinking of getting that for into cam recording (better to have back up audio always on camera) + Zoom H1 with a Rode mic.
