AC160 ATW locked vs manual WB

Is there a difference between manual WB and ATW locked as for using Barry Greens extreme scenefiles that require manual WB?
Sometimes there is no time for placing a white spot in the right position so it would be easy to just lock the ATW instead.

Of course, I understand that but in normal situations the ATW comes rather close to right colors.
I´ll try to explain what I mean:
Do the 160 with ATW locked behave as it was manually white balanced when using the extreme scenefiles described in Barrys book.
He emphasize that if using them you must have manual WB/autoexposure and not use PRST or ATW.
So my question is not which give the best colors for the given situation but - is ATW locked the same for the 160´s function with extreme scene files as manual WB - or should ATW locked also like the PRST settings and ATW be avoided with those scenefiles?

You can use ATW to get the looks, but as Mike said, ATW can confuse the camera depending on what the dominant colors in the scene are. Which means that the final resulting look may not be the same as if you'd performed a proper manual white balance.
