Attaching the rode videomic to a monopod

I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to take the hotshoe mount that is on the rode videomic and make it so it can screw into a camera mount screw (I am unsure of the size of the thread on that screw, but its the size that the 7D has on the bottom of the camera). Basically id like to use a monopod I have lying around as a boom pole for the rode videomic which I believe will be great as long as there is a way to affix the hotshoe mount to it somehow. Thanks for any ideas!

I don't think I want to go the duct tape route, heh. I am reading though that you can unscrew the hotshoe mount on the bottom of the rode mic to reveal a 1/4" thread along with a 3/4" thread, for both a boompole or monopod, which would be great if it is true. I will check that out when i get home from work.

My VideoMic actually has a 1/4-20 threaded hole right on the shoe mount. No need to remove the shoe, unless you want the 3/8" mount.

You say the screw thread is directly on the shoe mount? I know there is a hole, but it certainly wasnt threaded when i looked at it the other night. I bought the mic last december. They havent changed it and only recently added the 1/4 threaded hole have they?

They actually may have removed it. I got mine early in the wave of Røde popularity. Mine was before the attenuation DIP switches, silicone D rings, and the velcro holding the foam windscreen on.
