FS7: Atomos shogun inferno questions

I currently have 2 fs7's (NOT Mk2) and a CD 7q (not +) I bought the 7q when I had fs700 and it worked well with that camera but with the fs7 no real benefit other than a good monitor...

I had a recent water pipe break above a Roland video mixer / newtek tricaster combo. It killed the tricaster. I was using the tricaster to record the TV broadcast coming from the mixer. Long story short, the insurance will pay for the tricaster which I was no longer using to stream the tv show to the internet. (I was just using it a recorder) I thought with that money I would get a Atomos Shogun Inferno which I can use with the fs7 also.

Anyone using this combo that would like to share your exp. with them?

I've just been recording internal on the fs7 since I got them. (haven't even looked up what type signals fs7 puts out of the sdi or hdmi... are they both 4k?)

would you see any/much improvement with this combo over internal?

Hi - I've been using the FS7 now for some time and would like to have a simple backup recording for 1080 25p (this could be done internally with the 2 Card Slots) AND for at least 3840 25p (is not working on internal Cards.
If anything will go wrong on the XQD Card I'd love to have a backup (at least in 1080p).
In Addition some times I Need a SDI 1080p Signal out.

I was thinging about the Shogun Inferno (nice Screen) but I seems there is no Loop through when recording ;-((
The Blackmagic 7" Recorder seems to work connected via HDMI but the Screen might not be useful in bright sunlight?
or should I save my Money and just get a Ninja2 and record over HDMI always a 1080p?

Overall I find the Output Format restrictions disappointing
Why is there no set with internal 3840 25p recording and SDI 1080 25p AND HDMI 1080 25p Output...

Are you sure of that? Never tried mine, and can't try now as I'm away from my rig - but I was sure no matter if the Inferno is recording or not, you can output the signal to another monitor or EVF... Please indicate the basis for your statement, best if in the User Manual.

OK - I was so intrigued with your statement that I looked up the appropriate fragment in the user manual. Of course as I supposed - both SDI and HDMI outs are active all the time; here is the relevant fragment on one of the output ports:

"It carries a loop-through of the incoming HDMI or
SDI signal in record and standby mode, and the playback signal when
the Shogun Inferno is in playback mode"

Piotr

Still unconvinced... From the FS7, I'm feeding RAW (from the XDCA module RAW SDI) and either record it as CDNG RAW on the Inferno, or - after applying S-Log2/3 by the Inferno - encode it as DNxHR (or Prores). I must check whether there really is no loop-though capability while recording in such scenario... Will report back.

Piotr

PS. OK - it's possible what those guys are saying is that Inferno applies S-Log curve to the loop-though signal, hence no RAW at output - but who would need that? We're only using the output for another monitor or EVF...
