C100: Atomos Ninja 2 Firmware 4.01 Brings C100 Start/Stop Triggering

Atomos have released v4.01 of the firmware for the Ninja 2 which should bring true start/stop triggering over HDMI. Also brings Avid DNxHD support, as well as some bug fixes:

I'm installing it now so will test the C100 start/stop. Previously I could only get it to work using the timecode trigger.
 
Yup.. start/stop trigger works on the C100 now.

My thoughts on the combo so far: It's very cool. Unless I'm running around I think I'll use the Ninja 2 + ProRes HQ + Canon Log all the time now. Such an easy workflow (import files: done, no transcode, no pulldown) and good image quality. Even while being mobile with a monopod I felt mounting the Ninja to the handle is not such a big deal, though it's about 5kg all up (monopod, C100, Ninja 2, microphone). Also the HDMI connection seems pretty solid, I haven't managed to bump it yet, but I have to track down a locking cable so that will be at least 50% secure.
 
Sounds good Matt.

Nice setup for productions and then for private stuff a barebones setup with internal Wide DR recording.
 
Yes, it will automatically do pulldown from the C100s HDMI, or you can manually switch it back to interlaced if you really need it.

Hi Phil, I got mine from Lemac in Brisbane though they have Melbourne and Sydney offices too.
They have it for $6660.00 inc GST ($6054 ex GST - much better than the initial estimate $8K!). The first batch in the country seems to have sold pretty well but hopefully you can grab one!
