Hi guys,

An update really close to purchasing a c500 and the atomos does not support 2K I know someone confirmed on here via a video update but spoke to someone on twitter and said they only do 4K 2K is limited to Sony and only 10bit

2nd question I guess only way to get the 2k is via the 7q? Mitch can you confirm a few things, I am from the UK so if I purchase the 7q do I need to add the raw bundle for 4K is available via website? What's the output for 1080p is that still 10bit externally or 12bit? As I will probs sell my ninja blade assuming I can use the 7q with my c100 too?

Finally can you recommend a good quality sturdy arm to hold the 7q with c500 I used a noga arm before

Thanks

Mitch listed the supported formats in another thread:

"Odyssey7Q+ and the C500. The following are the possible recording formats with this particular camera.

Odyssey7Q+ (without RAW Bundle option):
2K/HD 12-bit ProRes 4444 or 4444(XQ) up to 60p
2K/HD 10-bit ProRes 4444 or 4444(XQ) up to 60p
2K/HD 12-bit Uncompressed DPX 444 up to 60p
2K/HD 10-bit Uncompressed DPX 444 up to 60p
HD 10-bit ProRes 422 (HQ/422/LT/Proxy) up to 60p

Odyssey7Q+ (with RAW Bundle)
All of the above
4K/UHD RAW up to 60p
4K "half RAW" up to 120p
4K/UHD RAW->ProRes (HQ/422/LT/Proxy) up to 30p"

For 2K shooting, the 12 bit RGB 4:4:4 mode (recorded in DPX files) and 12 bit ProRes 4444 XQ have the best quality. Currently, these are not supported on Atomos and I don't believe they have any plans to add them.

Thanks for posting that.

You need the Odyssey RAW Bundle option activated on the Odyssey7Q+ in order to utilize the 4K RAW output of the camera. That is for recording in RAW or converting the RAW to ProRes. After you purchase an Odyssey7Q+, you register on the Convergent Design website. From there you can purchase the RAW Bundle option for your specific serial number unit. There's a spot in the menu where you enter the activation key provided by our website to fully activate the RAW Bundle. Note: The RAW Bundle is actually present in the unit from the beginning, but it is in a DEMO mode. This means that everything functions on it including recording, but there will be a blue line watermarked across the bottom of the image. This allows you to try out the RAW functions and take test footage through post. Activating the RAW Bundle removes the watermark from future recordings.

You can certainly use your C100 with the Odyssey7Q+. There is an HDMI input as well as SDI inputs.

There are numerous ways to mount the Odyssey to the camera. Wooden Camera now offers some mounting arms that are highly adjustable and extremely strong. If you want something smaller and designed to specifically work well with the Odyssey7Q+, I suggest you also look at the Xtender Friction Mount from D-Pro.

Having that HDMI cable lock is a great option. Not sure how well the Extender will work in the field, but HDMI has been a bane in the field when forced to work with it.
