Any reports out on this yet?
It looks pretty cool...nice resolution monitor.
Love the idea of two purposes with one box.

Atomos Samurai Blade? Doesn't seem all that much different from the current Atomos Samurai, this one just has a few updates I believe.

yeah. I am thinking for getting the Atomos HDMI to SDI converter + the samurai Blade.

BUT! its another huge gadget you put on your camera just for 4 2 2, and it doesnt support 60p recording, just 1080p 30.

thats something you have to consider for future proof.

which means this $2k add-on is garbage once you switch from c100 to another camera, like C100 mk2.

I recommand renting it for some serious jobs, otherwise internal is the best.

Well your basically paying an extra $900 more than the Ninja 2 for the monitor, upgraded features including waveform and 10bit recording. This includes the $300 SDI to HDMI converter for $300 so you can use it with the C100. I dont think it's worth it over the Ninja 2 but it looks like a nice recorder/monitor that can grow with you.

The big difference between Samurai and Blade is that the Blade sports a new 1280x720 IPS panel with amazing image and many calibration features for accurate viewing and focus. Also has full-size HD-SDI connectors, no adapters needed.

I was very impressed with the Blade when I saw it at NAB. The monitor on it is very, very good. I may pick one up eventually; it would pair very well with a lot of cameras.

Is it possible to use a shoulder rig well without an eye contact point? Do you just loose too much stability?

Agreed, works well for the C300 and once you have the Atomos converter with the C100 you can send a SDI signal to a bigger monitor for video assist if you need. Well worth it on larger productions where you just need a small monitor recorder on set. The next step up is the larger and more expensive CD Odyssey 7Q if you are looking to record raw. The Blade seems ideal for small size/power needs from the C300 on down.
