GH4 AT875R with GH4?

Is anyone using the AT875R shotgun mic with the GH4? I need a decent ENG shotgun, but I'm not sure if the GH4 can power the AT875R.

I want something with XLR that I can use with my recorder when I'm not doing news stuff.

I have the AT897 which operates on either a AA battery or phantom power, came with XLR cable and XLR to mini (1/8) stereo adapter. I've tested plugged direct into my GH4 and it works but I much prefer to use it with my TASCAM DR60D (XLR input) which is then plugged into the GH4 mic in so I actually have 3 tracks being recorded.

The audio track with the video (which I can monitor with headphones plugged into the camera), the main track recorded on the TASCAM unit and a "safety track" at -6db below the level set for the main track.

The 875r runs on phantom power only so would not be a good choice for "run 'n gun" plugging direct into the camera. The 897 runs only about $50 more, I ordered mine with the kit ant the Auray shock mount that comes with it seems to work fine. I have a boom but usually no boom operator so I often use it mounted on a sturdy lightstand positioned just out of the frame and aimed at the talent's face from no more than four feet away.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Most of the time I can record through my DR-60D, but occasionally I need the ability to just record straight into the camera. I'll look at the AT897.
