Hello,
I'm French then I apologise for my english. I have recently bought à Ninja Blade and I want to use it to film some operas wich is 2 h long. I've bought it in second hand with a 1To disk. The first time I have filmed with, after about 30 min of recording I had a lot artefacts in the picture. Then I have done a update of the soft (I have now the version 12). I tried another try and the same thing happened again. Then I found that the hard disk wasn't a sdd but a seagate HDD. I was on the Atomos website and I saw that you have to buy special tested disks. Then I bought a SDD Sandisk extreme pro at 480 Go. I tryed again and after about 45 minutes it does the same.

Perhaps it is the "trigger". I was in the menu to configure the Ninja to be piloted by my C100 and a put the "trigger" to HDMI. It run well but in addition of artefacts problems I have another probem : when I want to read it, I don't have one shot but several...

Another think, I have a sunhood on it, and I notice that the Ninja will be very hot after a time.

I don't know what to do.

Thank you for your answer.

Hi,

You said you have mutiple clips instead of one even if you record continuously.

Do the artefacts appear only at the beginning and at the end of each clip and look like this?:

When the Blade gets a signal interruption on the HDMI or has temporarily trouble writing to the media it will split the clip and continue when the signal is back. You will get the above artefacts at the cuts. Did you check your HDMI cable if it eventually causes interruptions?
I have this problem occasionally on my Ninja Star, it appears almost as it has trouble writing fast enough to the the media. At least in my case it isn't a cable problem.

Greetings,

Hy, I'm going to post a shoot with artefacts. They are little scares of 4 pixels. I tried other shots with "camera trigger" to "enable" and "time code" to inside time code. I didn't put screen hood and everything was perfect. I did a 2h long shot and no artefacts. I tryed without the screen hood because I've noticed that the problems happens when the Ninja is to hot. And the screen hood recovers a part of the Ninja border.
I have an Atomos cable and an 480 Go extreme pro ssd.

No. If I shoot 1 h for exemple, everything is perfect the first 30 minutes and after artefacts appears more and more.

I think so to. But I've done a 2h shot without problems with no sun hood which I think recovers to much the heat part of the Ninja.
You can see the artefacts here :

I now sure that it is a problem of overheating. Does somebody know how to avoid this overheating ? first I will shoot without the sun hood. Do you thing that perhaps with a thermal paste would be a solution ? Where does this heat come from? I have a SSD then there and normally it is not very hot. I don't know what to do.
