OTHER: AREA 787: A Remote Location in Puerto Rico (Test Shots)

Wow. The footage looks awesome! Looks like it could be a cool film. Is it going to be more horror or sci-fi? I would totally watch that. What editing system do you use? Great work!!

THANKS!!!! is gonna be more of a sci-fi type. and im currently editing it in an HP DV6-1245x with SONY Vegas Pro 10.0 and Adobe After Effects CS5 but by the end of the year i think im gonna get me a Mac Book Pro 15" with a ATI Radeon, because its really dificult editing on this laptop.

Are you going to be able to take advantage of PR film credits/rebates? Plus there is a new Sony F series Laptop out with USB3 and a fast I7 cpu for under 3K USD. I use Vegas 10d too and am looking to get that.
I have several desktops for VFX and rendering.

I don't know the specifics, but PR has some of the most agressive tax credits in the USA (State or Territory). If you are shooting and producing there, worth contacting the film office. All they can
do is say no.

I think most places it depends on the budget. I *believe* here in NC I have to spend at least $150k before I start getting any discounts on taxes and stuff. I agree, contacting the film office is the best thing to do. They've helped us with some stuff in the states, even on finding locations, that we'd never have thought to use before.

Out of the first couple of shots, I'm not sure what you're using / not using, but I would suggest not using VC plug-ins as is. The news lower third looks nice, but it's the default. The words at the very bottom are a ticker and should be scrolling. There should be life to it.

The next shot has a lens flare that's not moving with the camera movement at all. Very peculiar.

The shots look nice, though.

"Is a follow focus worth it?" How will you be using it? How big is your crew? Are you going handheld? Are you mounting it to a rig? Sure it's worth it ... in the right scenario.

"Are Canon L series lenses worth it?" Yes. They will give you stability and a sturdy build with (usually) a faster aperture. You're shooting outside I see. Where are you? Is it humid? Does it rain a lot? The make of the L lenses will definitely be a plus in those conditions. Also, if it DOES get wet out there a lot, you might want to look into a water tight body. The t2i is not.

Just some thoughts. Hopefully this doesn't hinder, but help.
