Are you a "soon to be former" Final Cut Pro User ???

I really want to learn After Effects and Photoshop. Some of the features in CS5.5 are tempting. I'm an FCP user since 2006, it's how I learned to edit. I wanted to upgrade from FCP 6, but was kinda let down by FCPX. I'm on the fence for sure, but leaning toward CS5.5

After readjusting to Premiere, I have to say that it's fine. It's slower than FCP, though. I'm about to up the RAM on my machine, though.

Don't be afraid to try PP if you have the opportunity. Just make sure to change your shortcuts to the FCP shortcuts.

If they would make it where you could switch off the magnetic timeline I would use FCPX, if not no go. And to answer the other guy about Monsters, I have used Premiere in the real world on a long complicated project the problems are ridiculous, unable to locate clips, taking forever to do simple tasks etc, etc, etc...
Was this Premiere Pro CS4? Or Premiere Pro CS5/CS5.5? There is a search field to find clips right in the Project panel. Wondering what these simple tasks were? Perhaps we can help.

Ugh...! I hate FCP but I recently did a 30 minute project on Premiere. Premiere is a disaster for longer projects. I guess it is back to Avid.
Not sure about that one... maybe if you're new to ppro and don't know all of its features it could be a pain, as a lot of usefull stuff is hidden away in random menus. There are plenty of tools and features in there to help manage larger projects, I've done plenty of hour+ long edits on it and not had a problem.

I guess that's the thing I hate having to wait for it to do simple little things that AVID can do so fast. And losing connection to clips makes me crazy.
