ALL: Are there different AC-160's?

I have been looking at Ebay in order to get an idea of prices for when we are ready to buy. I've noticed a few ads that say their camera is 100% USA and one of the reviewers said they got a package deal, but the camera was from Asia. So, my question is - Are there two different cameras, and are they the same? Should I avoid one or the other?

There are two different models, the AC160 and the AC160A. If possible, you want the "A" version.

As for regions, yes it makes a difference. All the major manufacturers package and sell their products for release within a certain geographic territory. There is a USA AC160A, there is a European AC160A, there is an Asia/Pacific AC160A, there is an Australia/NZ AC160A, etc. The hardware is all made by the same company, but the warranty is only honored within the territory where it was originally destined to be sold. So if you buy one from Asia, and you need warranty repair work, you're going to have to ship it back to Asia for that work.

Some of the cameras (like the AC130A and AC90) are not multistandard, so the Asian AC90 will only shoot PAL/50Hz, whereas the American AC90 shoots NTSC/60Hz. The AC160A is multistandard so any AC160A can do both PAL/50 and NTSC/60.

The final differentiating factor is that the USA version includes my "The AC160 & AC130 Book" in the box with it; no other version does. That's a $90 value free in the USA version, and is one way you can know that you are getting an official legit USA model.
