C100: APS-C setting on C100

I'm going to be using an APS-C lens on my C100 this weekend (Sigma 17-50), and I have a question about how this works on the C100. When using the APS-C setting on the C100 (I'm guessing it's the EF-S button in the menu), will there be any expected loss in image quality? How exactly is the sensor compensating for the fact that it's zooming in to hide the vignetting? Thanks!

I never use that setting. The manual itself basically talked me out of it, something about increased periphery noise.

I rather than just deal with the vignetting than interpolating parts of my image.

I use the APC-C (EF-S) setting for my EF-S 15-85 which vignettes quite strongly. I couldn't see any drop in image quality so far from this setting though. The peripheral illumination setting however seems to exhibit some faint vertical noise stripes in dark areas when activated (at least on my camera).
