GH4 April Fools Prank: Panasonic Abandons M43?

Everybody take a breath and realize iTS APRIL FOOLS DAY IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. Ahhhhh. Now go give your MFT lenses a little kiss and tell them that the GH4 will be here in 30 days......

And talking about April fools and Vitally. What has he done lately for the GH cameras, especially the GH3?

Hear, hear. He got a lot of respect for what he did for the GH1 and GH2, but since then, he's just tried to turn his site into a commercial venture with selling stuff and so on. Which is fine. But not cracking the GH3 - perhaps not his fault, but it doesn't matter - kind of takes the bloom off the rose. And in that case my tolerance for stupid jokes goes way down. This is potentially pretty alienating crap - what reason is there to go there, if you never get any more work on cameras only stupid jokes and a waste of time.
 
He did it last year and even though everyone knew it was a joke, he insisted on keeping it going. Seems he's doing the same this year.

Ha...yeah...I put "" around wicked for a reason because I don't think this joke will go over well with a lot of folks. It can potentially lose a lot of Panasonic's customers. Believe it or not "because" of those former hacks people flock to that site for everything M 4/3's and then some. You should see some of the responses. But yeah...I think the GH-3 was a totally different beast from the GH-1/2 internally. He probably couldn't crack it.
 
All this joke does is point out how bad people have gotten at fact checking new information. On the net we see people believe single source information as fact and react immediately. Maybe next time we come across some information we should stop and think and fact check. M4/3 isn't going anywhere and is only growing as a system.

I think the GH3 was just good. It didn't really need a hack. Now the Magic Lantern group if interested might have done some interesting things!

it's april's fool's day tomorrow, and now in some parts of the world...OTOH...it's also the close of the fiscal year TODAY March 31...of course that decision would have to be made now. ;P
 
This is a joke, but there's a grain of truth to it. Panasonic is struggling no doubt. I would avoid purchasing any new m43 lenses. Lenses are supposed to last you a long time. Camera bodies come and go, so the GH4 is still a wonderful choice even if there's no successor.

That's not confirmation though, it's sourced back to Vitaliy's site, so not a new source.
 
This is the power of the internet at work. A rumor orgy....on april 1. If anyone cancelled their gh4 pre-orders, they're going to be waiting in a longer line. I wouldn't doubt it if pany themselves were behind it. Lots of free advertising. Like the crying girlfriend who's begged to come back, the day after being tossed out the door !
