7D Approaching Slow-mo and Fast-mo from both ends

I've been doing a lot of research today on doing slo-mo shots with my Canon 7D.

It seems like there are two basic approaches;

1) Film at 60fps, conform to 24/30 and be happy.

2) Using AfterEffects(or other program) Time Remapping and hope your footage isn't all knocked out of whack.

I have found little or no information on how to take advantage of BOTH Hardware and Software.

The only hardware related piece of advice I can find on using software is;

"Shoot at higher frame rates to have more frames to work with in post."

Okay.

What about shutter speed and ISO ... are there better settings on that end to help improve the quality of the final footage?

If you're shooting 50/60fps, you want to be shooting with a 180degree shutter speed, so either 100/120 of a second. Think the 7D does 125 so use that. This explains a lot of info on why 180degrees is important.

Getting smooth slow motion shooting at 30fps and slowing it down is a bad idea. If you've got the option to shoot more fps then why not shoot it? You can always pulldown in post if you decide you dont want it slow mo'd.

ISO - shooting more fps means faster shutter which means either a) more light, or b) higher ISO

Don't rely on software to do something that is much simpler to do in-camera.

This information does help.

I'm not trying to rely on the software, just understand all the options and capabilities.

shutter 100 looks awful in 60p-24p slowmotion,use higher speeds.120 is minimum,lower speeds look blurry and disgusting.
