Applying transition to frames and not 16:9 bars?

Yes yes, got it. I meant chessy 4:3 when originally taking the LETTERBOXED TROY TRAILER and 'forcing' it into a 4:3 aspect ratio; purely for testing the crop/mask options!

I think we both got it!

[quote author=David Jimerson link=board=Vegas;num=1081016402;start=0#18 date=04/03/04 at 21:52:40]Jive, are you saying that you can bring in letterboxed footage (that is to say, masked, non-anamorphic 4:3 footage) into a widescreen project and get Vegas to remove the black bars and treat the 16:9 center image as true widescreen?  I just ran a few tests to that effect, and haven't been able to get that to happen.

I may be way off, but when I read the orig. question, I interpretted it as footage shot using the squeeze feature (or the like), not masked/cropped footage. If it was originally shot with the in-camera letterboxing, then my solution has nothing to do with this because the captured footage will have a 4:3 ratio.

Sorry for the confusion. :)

If he was using the squeeze, then I totally agree with you -- he shouldn't have to worry about black bars ata ll.

Wow . . . the brotherhood here tonight is . . . well, it's a little overwhelming . . . :'(
