Apple's Insomnia Contest

Hey guys,

Check out the short "Preheat" when Apple's Gallery goes online.

It was shot on the DVX in my apartment because it rained here for four days straight. Oh well, usually I try to go too big and either get in trouble shooting guerilla or scrap the project.

I'm happy with this one, though. I didn't like the Judge's pick from last year, and I was so-so on the audience pick.

I wish I knew how to use Soundtrack Pro, or I wish I knew somebody that could score my movies.

Look forward to running across DVXuser entries when the site goes live!

Here is the film from the group I am a part of. It's kind of a thinker film and I really don't think it's making the mistake of cramming a feature length idea into a short.

We used a birdcage, the line "Don't tempt me." and the name Robin Darjeeling

This is actually a different cut than the festival and has little changes. We used a DVX100B, 2 Arri 650k's, and edited on Final Cut Pro.

I know! Let's go Apple! I'm waiting here!

In the meantime, I've been showing off my entry on Vimeo, which looks great! Thanks to Batutta for posting a link to that site.

there apple servers are incredibly bogged down... it took me three tries just to get a search through to find my submission in the gallery... still trying to get it to play.

Yeah. I don't think they were really prepared to launch this thing today. It's taking me FOREVER to even load the gallery, let alone watch one. Hope this gets sorted out soon, nobody is going to bother voting when it takes this long to watch one entry.

I haven't even been able to get into the gallery! Ergh! You'd think Apple would have been better prepared. I still love my Mac though. :)

I've been able to access it off and on... now their site says:

The Insomnia Film Festival contest site is currently unavailable as we prepare for the beginning of peer rating. An email will announce the opening of peer rating.

Grrrr...

1787 entries, 9 pages.

Go Red Sox! Did you use the opening to Mr. Ambulance Driver by The Flaming Lips in that?

Yesterday I was able to get into the site after multiple tries, but when I searched for our film it wasn't there. I'm hoping it's because they hadn't uploaded all of them yet, cause it even said they got our entry.

This is absolutely ridiculous! Our group uploaded the film and got the web page that said, "Congratulations! BLAH" and I have searched every possible thing to find it and it's not there. I even got the email saying "Yours and 1,900 other films are viewable."

This is lame.
