Apollo Teaser Trailer

Here's a link to a teaser trailer for the upcoming 40 min Sci-Fi Drama that I DP'd this semester.

It's not color corrected footage, nor does it explain the plot at all, but we threw it together to gather some interest in the visual quality of the piece.

It's a student film that was shot at Missouri State University as a senior thesis Undergrad project, directed by my friend and fellow student Bryan Manning.

wow, that looks really amazing!!! Will the final film be available online?

I'm not sure yet... we'll have to figure out a way to host it because it will be quite large. But I think it will be online in one form or another.

Excellent! Looks beautiful. Any 35mm adapter? Congratulations.

Yea we used the Brevis non flip with Nikon primes.

That's a nice piece indeed. Totally pro looking. what's it for?

It was to fulfill an undergrad senior thesis, though it will most likely be hitting some film festivals as well.

Awesome, loved the lighting design...

Thanks man.

nice edge to edge sharpness. What nikons did you use? I'm hoping to jump into the Letus Extreme if some projects come to pass.

I used just basic primes... 35 f2, 50 f1.4, 85 f2, and a 105 f2.5. We had a 28 but it was a f2.8, so I tried to stay away from it for edge to edge's sake. I found that with the Brevis most of the edge to edge is just in how you set your back focus. It's really finicky, but it you get it right it makes all the difference.

amazing lighting! what lights did you have at your disposal? edit: any bts stuff to show?

Luckily being in a media program ( a very crappy one, but a program none the less ) we had access to quite a few lights. We used Arri 1k kits quite a bit, as well as an Arri 650 and Pepper kit. We used some small kino's for SFX lighting, and two Arri HMI 1200's when needed.

We will have quite a bit of BTS footage, but it hasn't been logged yet.

Nice work. Beautiful shots. Great lighting, but also very important:

great locations
great costumes/wardrobe
great set dressing

You guys seemed to put a lot of thought behind these shots. I can't wait to see the final.

Very nice indeed, great locations, lighting and costumes! Having a 'sea of light' at your disposal clearly makes a difference, you guys made great use of it. It has a bit of a steampunk-like vibe to it (retro-sci-fi). I hope we'll be able to see the finished product online somewhere.

Cheers

PS: What's the name of the song in the teaser?
