Apollo & Odyssey firmware 2016.01

Hi Mitch can the o7q record 4k dci @50fps via the hdmi of an fs7?

So far I've not been able to configure it to accept a 4k signal even at 25fps. I'm running the latest firmware.

No, but there are a couple of levels in answering this question.

First, do you have the original Odyssey7Q or do you have the Odyssey7Q+? The Odyssey7Q cannot accept any 4K signals over HDMI. It is limited to a maximum of 1080p30 / 1080i60 / 720p60.

The Odyssey7Q+ can accept 4K in different forms over HDMI.
Odyssey7Q+ HDMI in:
DCI 4K 24p
UHD 24p, 25p, 30p
HD (1080p) 24p, 25p, 30p, 50p, 60p

Over SDI, both the Odyssey7Q+ and the original Odyssey7Q can accept DCI 4K all the way up to 60p. To do this requires a Quad-Link (four cables) of SDI connection. The DCI 4K SDI output of the FS7 can be converted to Quad-Link SDI using the AJA HA5-4K mini converter. This box can run off 5-12v so it is possible to strap it to the back of your Odyssey and rig everything together for a compact 4K60p shooting kit.

Thanks Mitch.

Something's coming soon...

Stuff for Apollo owners, stuff for Odyssey owners.

Some stuff we've talked about, other stuff that's a surprise.

There's useful stuff that everyone who uses Apollo or Odyssey should like.

So much stuff that New Features and Fixes & Improvements sections of the Release Notes goes on for five pages.

Seriously, stuff for everyone.

Stay tuned.

Double Recording in Odyssey7Q/7Q+? :-)
(Recording the same thing to both SSDs for backup.)

The price of approved Samsung SSDs (particularly the 1TB 850 EVO) are now so low these SSDs could be used as 'video tape' when Double Recording gets enabled. :-)

This is one of the features we showed at NAB, but for initial release it is for Apollo Quad-HD mode.
