lol, it seems like if you really wanted to do a zombie movie you should have just done one outside the festival. Felt like the you werent really into the genre you pulled and tried to work around it.

Sorta just one long joke, with violent interludes.

I liked some of the shots, and the make up was pretty impressive. Your actors were somewhat inconsistent, but i could see how that would be tough given the genre you pulled and what they were trying to do with it.

I did kinda like the bowl of food, lol, that was a nice touch.

I know these 48 hour things can be crazy tough due to limited time, so dont take any criticisms about story to harshly, because basically everyone has the same issues. I think most people tend to approach things similar to how you did. All in all, id say you owe it to yourself to take some of these talent and make the zombie movie you really wanted to make.

Thanks for the feedback jon. We'd love to do a true to life zombie film one day. Hopefully we can develop a concept that allows us to stand out from the millions of other zombie films produced every year.

Thanks again.

i think story can help you stand out the most, check out this no budget zombie short called Plague. Its a little long for a short but worth it. In fact i would easily have paid money to see this if it were made into a feature.

Good luck, hope to see more from you soon.

Thanks for putting up the youtube link! Just checked it out! I'd have to agree with Jon for the most part. I thought the makeup was excellent and I did like the story. I thought it was a really good storyline for a short. The quality of the film was also good as well as the music and the opening title and ending credits were sweet! Kudos for that creativity. The things that didn't work were the effects and the actors. The acting was inconsistent and a couple of cut-away shots didn't work. When the two guys are talking in the kitchen - on the CU of the guy in the cowboy hat, he's scratching his arm, but then you cut to a wide shot and he's not. That happened a couple of times. The effects and action could easily be improved in post. Get some better muzzle flashes, blood effects and sound effects and you'll be golden. Sometimes with the blood effects you can change the color or contrast to make them match the blood that we already see on the zombies and turn the opacity down a tiny bit to help it look more real. I also think you should, now, without being rushed take your time and so something else based on this story. You had some funny stuff in here.

Thanks for the review, Marlon. I'm starting to think that digital blood effects just don't cut the mustard. I think I'll look into squibs, and practical effects as far as violence goes. :)
This is my last 48 hr film. From now on, only serious projects with real actors. No more non-actor friends having fun. You guys are about to lap me! Haha.

Thanks again for watching.

Practical blood and effects are always good, but they can also be expensive. Sometimes you can mix and match the two and that works even better. There's a DIY to make squibs though too. Yeah, non-actor friends gotta' step their game up or get behind the camera. Trust me, I've been through the same thing. Acting can make or break a film.
