Hi all,

Shot these fun videos on the 7D, exploring Seattle with actress Kinga Philipps:

Museum of Flight

Space Needle

Waterfront

Pike Place

The 48 hr vid is pretty much a wall-to-wall VO deal. My first experiment with timelapse tossed in:

48 Hrs in Seattle

Primarily 16-35 L for the videos with Kinga. Audio and B-cam HVX200...

Tokina 11-16 and Canon 70-200 L for the 48 hr.

We really did have a very abbreviated schedule on this one (visited probably 40 + locations in 4-5 days for the Kinga shoots), but was a ton of fun.

Seems like a fun series you got to work on. You had some nice timelapses that worked well with the idea of "48 hours". My only comment would be that some of the handheld footage with Kinga was rough at times, and while the glass might not be as good, a fast lens with IS might have helped a bit.

For the timelapse did you take a bunch of long exposure stills and drop them into your edit?

Lastly, I'm curious about how you got this gig– I'm trying to get more work similar to this, and have been struggling finding the clients/contacts to get it. Are you local to Seattle? The work I've gotten like this in the past has been luck of the draw...

Thanks Mike. No real answer to working freelance.... Just keep on shooting with people and make connections...

Not to make excuses but the roughness on the handheld was a result of hitting a so many locations and getting as many shots as possible. We only had 4 days with Kinga and had as little as an hour at each location. Many places were cut. But yes, it's definitely rough.

I really like the 16-35 L for handheld with the 7d and tried a lot of lenses to find one I could keep on all day. It doesn't keep focus throughout the zoom however.

To answer your question about the timelapse- just shot 1-2 second exposures with an intravalometer, imported them with the old QuickTime ( new QuickTime doesn't allow image sequences), and exported movs to bring into final cut.
